How Do I Choose a Counselor?
Choosing a counselor might seem like a difficult task, especially if you're uncertain where to start. Despite any uncertainties people may have about starting the counseling process, my clients tell me that they feel safe, affirmed, and accepted during their sessions, which is a crucial first step in being able to entrust a counselor to help you. Clients have also said that they gained a great deal of emotional freedom from any past experiences or trauma and that have felt validated in their emotional experiences. Clients say that they also leave with a greater sense of awareness of and distance from their past struggles so as not to repeat similar patterns in the future.
As a counselor, I hope to create an affirming space for people to sort through their concerns. I also hold a supportive and empathic, yet challenging environment to help clients reach their social, emotional, and interpersonal goals. My clients have told me that they feel I offer a counseling environment that promotes safety and trust in order to assist them in their healing process. I try to bring a good mix of support, humor, feedback, and collaboration to the counseling setting.
Above all, my clients tell me that they feel heard, validated, understood, accepted, and valued during their time in session.
